Cox Communications is contemplating jumping into the bidding for Time Warner Cable Inc., either on its own or with others, say people familiar with the situation.
Cox is the third-biggest cable operator, after Time Warner Cable, with about 4.5 million television subscribers, ranking it a little ahead of Charter Communications, which started the pursuit of Time Warner Cable earlier this year. Charter is backed by John Malone’s Liberty Media Corp.
